Building collaboration for economic development success.
To foster a future where partnerships are grounded in trust, reciprocity, and shared benefit. Guided by reconciliation, I aim to strengthen relationships and create lasting, positive change for all communities I serve through consultation and collaboration.
After more than 15 years working at the intersection of Indigenous relations, economic development, and municipal leadership, I founded Pilon Strategies to help organizations and communities work better together.
I’ve sat on both sides of the table—serving as Band Manager, Economic Development Specialist, and corporate Indigenous Affairs leader and most recently as Mayor—which gives me a unique understanding of how collaboration can transform relationships and outcomes. As a proud Anishinaabe Kwe from Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory, I approach every project with cultural awareness, respect, and integrity.
Reconciliation, to me, is not just a policy or a project—it’s a practice. It requires listening, understanding, and choosing to move forward together. At Pilon Strategies, this spirit guides everything I do—whether supporting municipalities in building relationships with neighbouring First Nations, helping corporate partners design responsible consultation plans, or assisting communities in advancing their economic development goals.
I don’t do this work alone, when required, I partner with a trusted and comprehensive network of professionals to expand my capacity and ensure clients receive the highest level of expertise and support.
Strengthening partnerships by integrating an Indigenous lens into policy, developing actionable Indigenous Reconciliation Action Plans (IRAPs), and establishing Friendship Accords to foster collaborative, mutually beneficial relationships.
Navigating the legal, cultural, and relational aspects of Indigenous engagement, including Section 35 and the Duty to Consult and Accommodate.
Supporting policy creation, workforce development, land use planning, implementation, and stakeholder engagement for infrastructure projects across northern Ontario, ensuring alignment with community priorities, regulatory requirements, and Indigenous consultation obligations.
Providing interim leadership and support services, including Interim Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and Economic Development Officer (EDO) roles, to help municipalities maintain operational continuity and advance strategic priorities.
